Inspired by the ocean, handmade by Ruth

I speak with so many couples who know they want a stunning engagement ring, but don't know where to start.

When I met Jo and Nigel, they had a single starting point: the colour teal. It was my mission to turn that starting point into a beautiful ring that uniquely captured them.

We started by looking at a selection of sapphires in a range of colours, but nothing quite stuck for them. So we set that conversation aside and I asked them what they enjoy doing. It was their shared passion for coastal walks that stood out. In fact, the sapphire they were drawn towards was the exact shade of the ocean at Padstow Beach, one of their favourite coastal locations. This conversation became my inspiration for their bespoke design.

Capturing a Coastline

My challenge was to capture the beauty and movement of this stunning coastline. We started by finding a sapphire that matched the deep teal of the ocean. Jo and Nigel then chose sapphires and diamonds that reflected the cascading colours of the wave as it breaks.

Personalised Engraving

I set these stones in a ring shaped and engraved to emulate the waves. Paired with the precious stones bringing the varied colours of the magnificent waves, it was nearly perfect.

Just one more detail was needed: an engraving on the inside with the shape of that treasured coastline in Padstow.

Now their bespoke ring was complete, and completely them.

This project was a wonderful one. Getting to know Jo and Nigel and finding the perfect way to reflect their love for one another - that's what bespoke jewellery making is all about for me.
